Dearest Mother,
Your welcome letter rec'd yesterday so glad to get it. I am starting a letter today but won't get it finished as I am going to this afternoon with a friend of ours who is in town playing floor shows. They were with us on the Circus? (Crisus). ? met her husband yesterday on the st. and he invited us down to the Hotel last nite. It was 3 am when we came home had a nice supper at the Hotel Restaurant. They want us to travel with them this year. It snowed again last night & is colder this AM. Take care of yourself honey? & be awfully careful out on the icy st. Guess you got my other card yesterday. F says hello to you both and I am so glad you didn't get caught in that snow storm honey?. Poor little squeekies is sick hasn't eat for 2 days I am worried about him. Topsie and Chubby are O.K. Oceans of Love hug and kisses. Your K

Message: Hi Kids: -
Thought you might enjoy a little poetry while you sit around some quiet evening. Jae came to portland last Sat nite. We ook the train from there. The boys certainly enjoyed the train ride but Ma got a little tired. Am feeling swell now, tho.
Hope you're all well & having lots of fun and that Laurels shoulder is O.K. I'll see you when I get home. Fern said when I wrote to tell you hello, Eve. Took some pictures up there I'll show you soon.

One common thought, 'tis yours and mine;
Much could be said about this place,
This blessing to the human race.
It stands in majesty alone,
And better even than a throne,-
The carpenter built it for two,
And backward glance, with pride to view.
"Tis rough from mountain lumber made,
Beneath the forest's cooling shade,-
Concealed with brush, before and 'hind,
Long may it stand and serve mankind.
