Postcard: Front: 54 Main Block, Parliaments Bldgs., Ottawa, Can. Back: 54. Main Block, House of Parliament, Ottawa, Canada, -- Ottawa is the capital of the Dominion of Canada and was founded in 1827. It is situated on the south bank of the Ottawa. The government buildings are the most attractive features of the city. They were erected at a cost of nearly $5,000,000. They form three sides of a quadrangle. The south is occupied by the Parliament building which is 472 feet long and 572 feet deep. Over the principal entrance stands the Victoria tower which rises to a height of 180 feet and is surrounded by a great iron crown. The 300 guests that were stranded during the Great Flood of 1913 were possibly the only people in the whole city to not only have comfortable living quarters but regular chef prepared meals. The hotel is still standing but has changed hands numerous times.
